Keys to Effective Hybrid Work Models
Modern hybrid organizations require clear objectives, direction, coordination, effective collaboration, and empowerment for individuals and teams to succeed. At first blush, some of these concepts may seem somewhat contradictory.
However, if balanced correctly, they can be mutually reinforcing and synergistic, driving organizational success while boosting employee productivity and well-being. In order to meet critical objectives, it is vital to understand the current and future challenges that hybrid workplaces must deal with.
For instance, which skills do employees need to hone and develop in order to navigate both remote and in-office work environments while managing increased levels of autonomy and empowerment? What are the issues that teams must tackle to successfully coordinate their work while enabling individual independence? How do we get everyone on the same page when individual and team autonomy is central to how they work? What are the best practices to strive for, and the key pitfalls to avoid? And of course, how does all of this happen while allowing employees to be productive while maintaining their well-being?
This session is designed to provide key insights to aid organizations and their employees in effectively navigating hybrid work environments while driving critical objectives.

Nimble Resiliency: Rethinking How Organizations Support and Promote Proactive Change
As the workplace continues to evolve at an ever-increasing pace, organizations find themselves facing changes in their industries, technologies, and customer demands. To succeed in this turbulent environment, leaders are demanding greater resilience from their employees. But traditional approaches of “just endure” resilience have their limits. O.C. Tanner research has found that over half of employees say they are expected to just push through challenges without complaint, which leads to a 125% increased likelihood of burnout.
How can organizations create a culture of resiliency that is nimble, proactive, and people-centered? How can we shift our mindset from seeing change and challenges as setbacks to overcome to viewing them as opportunities to innovate, evolve, and improve? New research from the 2024 Global Culture Report reveals a framework of nimble resiliency that empowers organizations, leaders, and employees to embrace change, foster collaboration, and leverage cross-disciplinary thinking.

The Ups and Downs of Long-Term Disability
In Canada, nearly a quarter of plan sponsors are concerned about the level of disability. And rightly so: for years, long-term disability cases have been increasing by 1 to 1.5% a year. By 2022, however, things changed dramatically, with disability cases declining, including those related to mental health. At a time when the country's psychological health indicators remain in the red, this downturn is surprising. So, what happened? How can we explain this turnaround? What does it tell us about employee health, and what does it hide? Should companies modify their insurance coverage? Drawing on data from the Desjardins Insurance portfolio, we will retrace the course of events to answer these questions. We will look ahead to 2025 and suggest strategies for business leaders and HR managers to better control disability.

The Value of Soft Skills and the Myth of Measurement
What are soft skills? Why do they matter and how can they be measured? There's a constant demand in today's business landscape to measure and tie all activity back to a metric. Organizations are often challenged in determining how to recognize, develop and measure qualitative areas (culture, synergy, collaboration, reputation etc.); areas that directly impact both short-term and long-term results.
In this session presented by The Globe and Mail Leadership Institute we'll define and demonstrate the value of soft skills and how to measure them using case studies, activities, exercises, and frameworks (which will be available for download). This session will examine the impact that soft skills can have on business success by specifically highlighting key scenarios and core competencies wherein the presence or lack of soft skills strongly influences outcomes.
